Esperança no futuro

Há pouco mais de duas semanas (no passado dia 18 de Dezembro) participei, em representação da AAEC, na cerimónia da tomada de posse dos novos dirigentes da Associação Académica de Coimbra.
Nos anos anteriores estas tomadas de posse têm decorrido no Auditório da Reitoria, o maior da Universidade, que agora encerrou para profundas obras de requalificação. Por isso, foi no auditório do Edifício Central da FCTUC, no Pólo II da Universidade, que se concretizou a “transmissão de poderes”.
Se aqui aludo ao local, é porque ele é menos conhecido na cidade e porque se trata de um excelente auditório, com mais de 500 lugares, na ocasião maioritariamente ocupados por estudantes de capa e batina, que quiseram testemunhar um acto relevante para a Academia.
Presidiu o Magnífico Reitor da Universidade de Coimbra, Amílcar Falcão, estando presentes diversas outras entidades, entre as quais a nova Presidente da Câmara Municipal de Coimbra, Ana Abrunhosa. Destaco a autarca, não por ela ser também docente da UC (mais concretamente da Faculdade de Economia), mas porque espero que a sua presença simbolize o propósito de uma ligação estreita e cooperante entre a Câmara Municipal e a Universidade, as duas mais importantes instituições de Coimbra – as quais, ao longo das últimas décadas, com lamentável frequência estiveram de costas voltadas entre si, com prejuízos para ambas, para a cidade, para a região e para o País.
Voltando à cerimónia, devo referir que, como nos anos anteriores, ela se estendeu por algumas horas, devido às longas intervenções, tanto dos que cessavam um mandato, como dos que outro iniciavam. E isto decorre, sobretudo, de um sentimento que caracteriza todos esses discursos: a gratidão.
Por ser algo que vai rareando, aqui decidi sublinhar esse aspecto, já que todos os discursos dos jovens estudantes incluíram emotivas palavras de agradecimento para as respectivas famílias (o que é de louvar, pois nem sempre o sacrifício destas é lembrado), mas também para cada um dos muitos colegas integrantes das suas equipas, ali evocados de forma carinhosamente personalizada. Houve ainda menções elogiosas para os funcionários, o que é igualmente meritório, já que são peças essenciais para o bom funcionamento de uma organização muito complexa e de enorme importância para a formação dos alunos. Uma espécie de “universidade paralela”, como já referi em anterior texto neste espaço.
Recorde-se que os estudantes elegeram a lista de continuidade, liderada por José Machado na Direcção-Geral (Vice-Presidente do anterior elenco) e por Francisco Flor na presidência da Mesa da Assembleia Magna.
Mas deixemos os aspectos formais, e centremo-nos nos propósitos anunciados pelos novos dirigentes, de que destaco, pela actualidade, o que se relaciona com as eleições para a Presidência da República.
Assim, os recém-empossados acabam de apresentar um “Manifesto Jovem da AAC para as eleições presidenciais de 2026”. Trata-se de um documento muito interessante e oportuno, que enumera as que classifica como “principais preocupações da juventude portuguesa”. O documento endereça aos candidatos à Presidência da República diversas recomendações nos seguintes domínios: juventude, democracia e participação; ensino superior, ciência e tecnologia; habitação; empregabilidade; saúde mental e bem-estar; clima e sustentabilidade.
A justificar a apresentação deste Manifesto, o novo Presidente da AAC afirmou pretender que a voz dos estudantes “venha a ser integrada nas decisões e transposta para a realidade”. Por seu turno, o Vice-Presidente, António Lopes, referiu que o Manifesto “diagnostica, analisa e descreve quais as preocupações e expectativas da comunidade jovem em Portugal e não somente no espaço universitário de Coimbra”.
Numa época em que a Ética “anda pelas ruas da amargura”, com a proliferação de casos lamentáveis, é consolador verificar como os novos dirigentes da mais antiga associação de estudantes do País querem combater o desinteresse dos jovens pela Política. Trata-se de um contributo relevante para dignificar a Política, essa actividade que é muito nobre, mas só quando os seus protagonistas estão nela para servir e não para se servirem…
Tenhamos, com estes jovens, esperança no futuro!
